Development Engineer Acoustics (m/f/d)

We are looking for a Professional Development Engineer Acoustics to help define and evolve the acoustic foundations for our digital audio solutions. Instead of focusing on one specific product, you will create reusable acoustic building blocks—such as acoustic concepts, reference designs, tuning methods, and validation approaches—that can be efficiently adopted across multiple product families. You will work closely with a cross-functional platform team including experts in Audio DSP, electronics, mechanics, and more. Your work enables product teams to integrate proven acoustic solutions faster, with predictable performance, and reliability.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop reusable acoustic concepts and reference designs that scale across product families.
  • Define acoustic requirements, targets, and interfaces to ensure easy integration into product designs
  • Build and validate acoustic solutions using simulation and measurements (e.g., using Matlab/Simulink, SPICE, Comsol or similar).
  • Establish repeatable test methods and validation criteria for reference designs and platform readiness.
  • Align acoustic solutions with mechanical, electronics, and audio DSP constraints, ensuring robust overall system performance.
  • Enable product teams to perform integration, certifications, and tuning through design reviews, troubleshooting, and hands-on lab support.
  • Create and maintain integration documentation (e.g., acoustic design guides, test procedures, tuning workflows, acceptance criteria).
  • Capture feedback and translate it into module or platform improvements (design rules, reference designs, measurement setups, tuning strategies).

Your Qualifications

  • Master’s or Diploma degree in acoustical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience with strong hands-on acoustic development background.
  • Solid experience in electroacoustics (loudspeakers/microphones), acoustic system design, and performance evaluation
  • Strong hands-on competence in acoustic measurement and lab work, including structured debugging and root-cause analysis
  • Ability to translate complex requirements into reusable building blocks (e.g. modules and platforms) and clear design rules
  • Experience with audio tuning workflows (including cooperation with audio DSP teams on algorithm constraints)
  • Familiarity with acoustic simulation tools and methodologies (e.g., COMSOL)
  • Familiarity with certification processes in the context of Voice over IP applications, e.g. Teams and Zoom
  • Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration (Audio DSP, electronics, mechanics and others)

What you can expect from us:

• Inspiring Work Environment: Become a part of our international family business, where a modern and dynamic work atmosphere awaits you. At Sennheiser, people and their mindset are at the heart of everything we do  - they are our most valuable asset.
• Flexible Working Models: We offer flexible working hours and mobile work options to help you balance your professional and personal life.
• International Collaboration: Look forward to working in a global team collaboration and contributing to exciting projects that shape the future of audio.

The audio world is diverse — from concerts and lecture halls to streaming platforms, meeting spaces, and studio recordings. So are we at Sennheiser. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, regardless of gender identity, national origin, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, disability, or age.
